"Lifeboat", the second single from Woody Russell's "This Is Son Solitaire" EP, explores the topic of a compassionate response to life's challenges.
"I had written some variation of the lyric long before the song was composed at a time when my wife was was navigating some of life's grit and grime, and then subsequently, a dear friend had phoned to lean on me regarding a serious illness he was facing. I, as I would imagine many have experienced, had been - at one time or another - on either end of that equation; one in need of support or one who could offer support. It's simply a song about love, about friendship and having someone to lean on in times of trouble."
