WHAT IS A HOUSE CONCERT?
House concerts are considered "private" events in which the host opens up their home or backyard to create a concert setting unlike any other. The invitations usually include (but are not limited to) friends and neighbors, family and work associates, often invited via email and responding via RSVP to reserve their seats. Comfy seating is provided and there is typically a potluck dinner or Hors D'oeuvres and drinks (alcohol at the discretion of the host). This is a "listening room" once the concert starts, not a "party" and that specific detail is what makes these concerts so special. That said, it's not a stuffy affair. It is an intimate evening of music, up close and personal, with an opportunity to mingle with the artist, to get to know the story behind the music and share the experience with your community of friends and neighbors. A suggested donation is asked for at the door; all proceeds going to the performer(s) to help keep them on the road and creating the music you love. The host almost always puts the artist(s) up for the night, as well. The event can be simple or elaborate; it's your venue, indoor or outside. And... hosting a concert pretty much ensures that you'll be the coolest kid on the block!
Have more questions about hosting a house concert? We can help answer all of the technical stuff, no worries. Simply contact us and let us know what you have in mind. It's fun and, in all seriousness, one of the best ways to help an artist survive on the road. We consider our house concert tours, without doubt, to be some of the best performance experiences we have; meeting the kindest, warmest folks on the planet in the process. We haven't met anyone who hasn't sincerely appreciated the chance to see world-class live music in a private home or community center near their own neighborhood instead of fighting traffic to get to a noisy club or venue, having to pay for parking, overpriced cocktails, etc. As performers, traveling the seemingly endless hours of highway, we often form great friendships with the hosts and, upon returning to a particular concert series year after year, it feels a bit like a family reunion.
Again, if you have any questions about exactly how to make a concert in your home happen, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'd look forward to working with you on a wonderful, one-of-a-kind concert experience in your home! -WR
